A Historic Week for SEEAG: Four Programs, Two Counties, One Incredible Team
Students attending a Farm Lab field trip with SEEAG at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria.
From February 17-22, SEEAG achieved an incredible milestone: for the first time in our organization's history, all four of our core programs operated simultaneously across both Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. This week of impact was made possible by our office expansion, the addition of new staff in Santa Maria, and our growing team in Ventura. It was a week that showcased the strength of our mission and the dedication of our team.
A Week of Impact Across the Region
Farm-to-Food Lab: Four elementary schools completed various parts of our hands-on, 3-part, agricultural education program during the week, including four field trips - two to Petty Ranch in Ventura and two to Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria. A total of 212 students from Curren School in Oxnard, Battles Elementary in Santa Maria, Crestview Elementary in Lompoc, and Glenwood Elementary in Thousand Oaks engaged in immersive experiences that connected them to the journey of food from farm to table.
Produce Pop-Up (Youth Wellness Initiative): On Friday, February 21st, we hosted a Produce Pop-Up event at Curren School in Oxnard, bringing over 2,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables from our farm and community partners directly to students and families while educating them on the importance of nutrition and wellness.
STEM Career Pathways in Agriculture: In northern Santa Barbara County, Cabrillo High School students participated in all three components of this workforce development program, exploring opportunities in ag-related STEM careers and gaining insight into the future of the industry.
Farm Day Every Day: On Saturday, February 22nd, we wrapped up the week with a Farm Day Every Day tour at Plantel Nurseries in Santa Maria, giving the public a behind-the-scenes look at agricultural innovation and sustainability.
Growth, Expansion, and a Passionate Team
This historic week was a testament to SEEAG’s growth and the power of agricultural education. With a newly expanded office and additional staff in Santa Maria, plus an ever-growing team in Ventura, we have reached new heights in our ability to serve students, schools, and communities. Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to bring these programs to life, ensuring each event was impactful and engaging.
We are proud of this milestone and excited for what’s ahead. With continued support from our donors, sponsors, and community partners, SEEAG will keep expanding its reach and inspiring the next generation to understand and appreciate agriculture. Thank you to everyone who made this week possible!
