Farm Day Every Day: Your FREE Ticket to Exploring Local Farms

Community members enjoying the 12th Annual Ventura County Farm Day on November 2, 2024.

We are excited to introduce a brand-new initiative designed to connect the community with local agriculture all year long: Farm Day Every Day. This series of free, hands-on community events will alternate between farms in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, providing an immersive, up-close experience with the farming practices that fuel our region.

We’re kicking things off on January 25th at Petty Ranch in Saticoy, where visitors will have the chance to tour the ranch’s beautiful avocado orchard. Farm manager Chris Sayer will guide the tour, sharing valuable insights into the art and science of growing avocados. But that’s not all—attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in fun and educational activities at SEEAG’s Farm to Food Lab. Kids will get hands-on with nature by hunting for insects, exploring a vermicompost (worm) station, and even planting their own seedlings.

And for those avocado lovers out there, we’re giving away ten avocado trees through a special drawing at the event!

Farm Day Every Day is a year-round program designed to build a deeper connection between the public and local farms. As our executive director, Caitlin Paulus-Case, shares, "Many Farm Day visitors told us that they wish they had more time to spend at the farms they visit. Farm Day Every Day will give them a more immersive experience to learn about our local working farms. Agriculture has evolved over the decades. Farm Day Every Day is an opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look at today’s sustainable farming practices that increase crop production while helping the environment."

Each event in the Farm Day Every Day series is limited to 50 attendees to ensure an intimate and engaging experience. These events will showcase different farms in both counties, giving you a chance to see the variety of sustainable farming practices in action.
