Produce Pop-Up Recap – Hueneme Elementary School, Port Hueneme

Xochitl distributing pre packaged boxes from Food Share

We had an incredible time at our recent Produce Pop-Up at Hueneme Elementary in Port Hueneme! Thanks to the generous donation of 250 pre-packaged food boxes from Food Share, along with four boxes of gleaned lemons from Food Forward, families were able to take home a wonderful variety of fresh items. Seeing children proudly help carry boxes alongside their parents was a powerful reminder of the impact these events have on our community.

This Produce Pop-Up would not have been possible without the amazing support of our partners and volunteers. The Hueneme Elementary staff played a key role in creating a welcoming and organized environment, ensuring the event ran smoothly from start to finish. Their commitment to supporting students and families was evident throughout the day.

A special shoutout to Chris Sayer of Petty Ranch, where Hueneme’s 3rd graders recently visited on a field trip. Chris generously donated many of the lemons shared at the event; creating a meaningful full-circle moment for students and their families!

Through this collaborative effort, the Produce Pop-Up became more than just a food distribution; it was a celebration of connection, nourishment, and community partnership. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time, resources, and heart to make this event such a success.

We look forward to continuing to host Produce Pop-Ups throughout the year and expanding access to fresh, local produce. Thank you, Hueneme community, for showing up and supporting one another!
